Clovelly Marine Park
Randwick City Council called for major Civil Engineering works to be done at the Clovelly Marine Park foreshore.
In January 2006, The Glascott Group completed one of the most demanding seaside construction projects in the history of the company. In order to achieve the project deadlines, the company developed some innovative construction techniques that mitigated the impact of the sea and allowed fast construction - much faster than would normally be the case with the existing construction systems used in industry at the time. Metal baffles were used in preference to the more traditional wooden formwork, as the metal baffles deflected the power of the never-ending waves and tides. Wooden formwork needed significant cross supporting structures in order to remain true, but the Glascott-designed metal system was light, fast to erect, stable and ensured an even finish without the need for costly and time-consuming wooden support systems for the concrete pours.
The Glascot Group’s work comprised of
- Excavated and removed existing concrete
- Ramping
- Roadways
- Pathways
- Stairs
- Ballustrades
- Sandstone walls
- Resurfaced the baths
- Replanted the area
